Fresh off their first performance in nearly 12 years, 80s alternative Christian music group 441 (4-4-1, four for one, whatever) has been invtited as special guests to perform at the Broken Records reunion concert Friday, August 19, at Mariner's church in Irvine, California.
Also performing at this retro-fest are alt-rock icons Undercover, the Altar Boys, The Choir and Crumbacher.
441 were known in so-Cal circles for their spirited live performances, infectious beats and catchy melodies from songs such as "Break Out," "Mourning Into Dancing" and "Fish On The Car."
"We're pretty excited about doing this gig," said 441 member Glenn Holland. "We played in April and it was fun. But, we were rusty. Now with all the other bands there, we actually have to work hard not to stink up the joint."
441 will lead off the bill with a fast and furious 30-minute set. "I think it's good we're going first," said Holland. "We're getting kinda old, so by being done at 7:30, we can still be in bed by 10. We're going to give everything we've got because we don't know when we'll play again."
As Holland now lives in Texas, the band has to rehearse separately until they convene the night before the concert.
"It's like jumping out of an airplane without testing your chute," said guitar player John Giali. "By the time we figure out if everything's working, it may be too late. But, we're all grinding really hard at our own homes to rekindle those memories from twenty years ago."
