Bethany Church, 1983
A few photos from a very early performance of what would become 441. The band's name at this point was likely "Mr. Wilson" and the Bethany gig was the second performance of John, Steve, John and Glenn.
Several songs that would make it onto their debut album were performed here, including Break Out, Mom & Dad and Love's Irony. Also performed was an interesting version of Peter Gabriel's Not One of Us.
Reportedly this was the last in a regular concert series at the church. Apparently the driving rhythms were a little too much for the congregation in the sleepy town of Sierra Madre. I have a distinct recollection of stunned silence at the end of Love's Irony!
